Haircolor

Does she or doesn’t she? Do non-toxic color, that is….

Well, actually, safer hair coloring is a relative thing. But there are a whole bevy of products that are an improvement over the last generation of hair coloring.

From brands like EcoColors, Aveda and Shades Natural Color to salons like John Masters Organics, the options are growing. Want more choice than just red? Even good old Henna has come a ways, with a wider array of colors.

As always, read those labels.

The unique chemical problems with hair dye are ammonia, peroxide, PPD (p-phenylenediamine), diaminobenzene and coal tar. In order to give permanent color, most dyes must use peroxide and PPD to open up and penetrate the hair shaft. These colorings keep them to a minimum. But, there can still be other chemicals.

And, if you can settle for semi-permanent, you have a little more choice.

We like you just as you are, but if the call of color is irresistible, these have got you covered.

What do you think? Have you tried any of these?
